EARLY SEASON SOLO SHRED MISSION

2 11 2009

Late this past Thursday, just after a massive up-slope snow storm was finishing dumping over 2 feet of snow on Colorado’s Front Range, I decided to head out on a solo shred mission to see if I could get a couple street spots near my house set up for the coming day. After only an hour or two of shoveling, I was able to get an 18′ high ledge to drop and a 12′ high rail to drop set up. Both spots had perfect natural in-runs and it wasn’t too late to give photographer Max Cavanaugh a call. Max was more than down to come out to shoot and we made what we could happen getting some pretty good shots.

FIRST DAY BACK ON THE STREET

29 10 2009

Late this afternoon as a freak fall snow storm continued to blanket Colorado’s front range with anywhere from 1 to 2 feet of snow, Steve and I decided we couldn’t watch the snow fall from inside any longer. We loaded up the gear and headed out to check on a few street spots we had scouted during the off season.

The very first place we rolled up on was an 8 foot high ledge dropping into a drainage ditch somewhere in Golden. The spot looked prime, so instead of wasting any more time, we went ahead and set it up. Steve took first crack at it and ended up sending a 50/50 about 10 feet past the landing zone and got a little wet in the process.

After a few tries, we both seemed to get our games dialed. Steve easily pulled out a couple nice nose presses and I got a decent blunt slide. Photo taking is never easy in these kind of conditions, but we did what we could to document the adventure. Hopefully you enjoy the shots and get to have some fun of your own in this unreal preseason snow storm!

Up to another foot of snow is in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, so hopefully we will bringing even more photo and video content to the site in the next couple days. Goodnight!
